Rancapino
Male flamenco singer
Name:Alonso Núñez Núñez
Birth: 1945 Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz

Rancapino was a friend and companion of Camaron´s in the Cádiz tablaos, where they started their professional careers as flamenco singers. Nonetheless, Camarón was drawn towards the path of renewal, whereas Rancapino preferred the more orthodox expression of cante jondo (lit. deep singing, an expression used to say flamenco), profound and full of emotion, which he accompanied well with his hoarse voice, and the divulging of his art in Japan, a country where he has toured on several occasions.

His repertoire is not very wide, but his renditions of seguiriyas, soleares, malagueñas and bulerías are memorable. His discography is also scarce, although his professional career has always been solid and regular. He is possibly one of the cantaores who has performed the most in Japan, where he has undertaken many tours. In 1998 he participated in the making of the record Jondo y apasionado by the Japanese cantaor and guitarist Enrique Sakai. In 1977 he won the Enrique El Mellizo award in the Concurso Nacional (National Competition) in Córdoba.
