Pata Negra
Band

"Pata Negra's is a kind of music (...) that has had an important influence on a generation of musicians, and which has become an unavoidable reference point, which has gone beyond our country's borders". Ángel Álvarez Caballero.
Raimundo Amador Fernández. 1959. Seville. Guitarist and singer
Rafael Amador Fernández. 1960. Seville. Guitarist and cantaor

Pata Negra is a legendary band in the history of Spanish music. Established by the Amador brothers after Veneno split up, it has possibly been the band that did the most for cross-breed flamenco, not because they were the first to do it, but rather because of the quality they achieved and for the great impact that they had on the musical scene and among the public. In truth, rather than a fusion of flamenco with blues, it could be argued that their music was the expression of a new style.

As Pata Negra, they recorded six records (between 1981 and 1995), although the brothers separated after the fourth, and Rafael Amador remained as the band's only component, working alongside other musicians. Meanwhile, Raimundo was embarking upon new adventures. A live album, recorded in 1994, and another record that collects the best of the group ("Best of Pata Negra", 1998) have also been released. The records in which both brothers took part are undoubtedly the best parts of their output, especially the fourth album "Blues de la Frontera" (1987), the last one on which they worked together. It is considered one of the best records published in Spain in the eighties. In it, they create a new style which they christened "blueslería", an indication of the integration that they achieved between blues and flamenco.
