Montse Cortés
Female flamenco singer
Name:Montserrat Cortés Fernández
Birth: 1972 Barcelona

"The fact that a veteran like Juan Habichuela has counted on Montse for a work which is laden with glorious flamenco figures gives a clear idea of the calibre of cantaora that she has already become". José Manuel Gamboa, guitarist and flamencologist.
A young flamenco cantaora who, at the same time, is also a veteran. She started singing in Barcelona tablaos, accompanying dancing. This was how Antonio Canales discovered her and made her part of his company, where she remained for five years until she decided to record her first solo album ("Alabanza", 2000).

Contemporary flamenco artists have requested her cooperation, and for this reason her voice and singing can be appreciated in El Viejín's first record, as well as in Miguel Poveda's and, most of all, in De la zambra al duende,Juan Habichuela's first recording, in which great figures chosen by Juan himself took part. It was a project in which she stood shoulder to shoulder with Paco de Lucía, Tomatito, Chano Lobato, Rancapino, Juan Manuel Cañizares, José Mercé... She has also shared the stage with La Paquera de Jerez, and has sung for bailaores like Sara Baras and Juan de Juan.
