Male flamenco dancer |
| Name:Antonio Fernández Montoya |
| Birth: 1988 Sevilla |
Farruco is the younger brother of Farruquito, who at present is the patriarch of this dynasty of bailaores (flamenco dancers) that was started by El Farruco. All of his life has witnessed the purest of flamenco art and, in spite of his youth, he has already started to stand out in the dance company established by his brother, from whom he claims to have learned a large amount of what he knows.
His debut on the international stage was when he was two years old in Berlin, and he first took part in a film when he was six, under his grandfather's direction in 'Bodas de Gloria'. In 1998, when he was ten, he set up his own company 'Los gnomos del flamenco' (The gnomes of flamenco), with which he participated in several festivals in Spain and the rest of the world, like in Cologne and Kiev.
In January 2001, he played a role in the oeuvre 'Incognito' with Francis Brunn's. In the same year, he was part of his brother's show 'Farruquito y Familia' (Farruquito and Family) in New York, accompanying him on his first tour of the US. In October of the same year, he toured Mexico with Antonio Canales as a solo artist.
Farruco has had preferential roles in the shows created by his brother, like Raíces Flamencas, La Len Varó, Por Derecho and Alma Vieja. In all of them, he has stood out as a unique bailaor with a great strength. Elegance and beauty accompany his uncomparable technique and prodigious zapateado (stepping movements with the toe, sole and heel of the foot that produce a rhythmic combination of sounds). He has performed on stages all over the world, and he has achieved a great success in his last tour of Spain. At present, he is at the top of the line-up with his mother La Farruca in the family's latest production: Los Farruco. |
