| Name:Deborah Greenfield |
Deborah Greenfield is a versatile bailaora (flamenco dancer). She has dedicated many years to a deep exploration of flamenco, so as to be able to incorporate it into her work in an authentic and original way. Her flamenco dancing has not been seen only in tablaos and theatres, but also in films, shorts and music videos. At the same time, she has also carried out an important teaching activity in prestigious dance centres, of both contemporary and flamenco dancing.
She learned flamenco in Spain, where she lived for some years and where she established Fuga, her own contemporary dance company. With one of her first shows, "Fuego Quieto", Deborah Greenfield was awarded the first prize in the V Certamen Coreográfico de Madrid (Madrid Choreography Contest).
She enjoys a great reputation as a choreographer, a facet in which she is very versatile, and is as comfortable working on films, like the feature films "Camera Obscura" (Hamlet Sarkissian. 2000) and "Skeleton Woman" (Vivi Letsov. 2000), as on shorts like "Madrugada", in which flamenco dancing plays a starring role and was
selected for this year's Dance On Camera Festival at Lincoln Center. She danced during two concerts by Jane's Addiction, the North American rock band, as well as in the video for the song Ain't It Funny, by Jennifer Lopez.
She is now developing a new multimedia project, Flamenco a Fusion, with a grant from Dance USA and the Irvine Foundation. |
