Male flamenco dancer |
Percussionist |
| Name:Joaquín Encinias |
Joaquín Encinias' professional debut was not long in coming: it was when he was only five years old, under the guidance of his grandmother, the bailaora Clarita - Clara García de Aranda. Having had such a precocious start, it is hardly surprising that he has acquired an exceptional mastery of the deepest and most difficult forms of dancing, particularly the martinete. However, apart from this, Joaquín Encinias has also had a thorough training in modern dance and classical ballet, and as a musician, playing the saxophone and percussion instruments.
He too is linked by family bonds to the Instituto Nacional de Flamenco (National Flamenco Institute) and to the Conservatory that was established within the institute in Alburquerque (New Mexico), and he carries out an important didactic activity in these centres and in the University of New Mexico.
He has worked with important figures in the world of dancing, not just flamenco, and he features regularly in the International Flamenco Festival, which is held in the University of New Mexico. Joaquín is certainly the best bailaor on the North American scene. |
