Choreographer |
| Name:Elba Hevia y Vaca |
Elba Hevia y Vaca learned flamenco in Spain, where she moved to when she had already earned an important recognition in the United States, as a dancer and as a bailaora. In Spain, her teachers included great figures like Pilar Ortega, Belén Maya, Alicia Márquez and La Tati, among many others. In New York, she was also taught by artists like La Meira and Nélida Tirado.
Alongside La Meira, she is the co-founder of Pasión y Arte, a dance company that is comprised exclusively of women and defines itself as a non-profit educational and cultural organisation. Elba Hevia seeks to preserve and strengthen flamenco, at the same time as she blends it with other traditions, particularly those that come from Latin America. |
