Richard Ogilby is currently recognised as a prestigious flamenco guitarist. However, he is also a choreographer and dance teacher, as he started his career as a bailaor and classical dancer.
He started to play the flamenco guitar when he was very young. Jaime Griffo, who used to accompany the great Carmen Amaya on his guitar, was one of his teachers, as were Perico del Lunar (the son), Andrés Batista and Diego del Gastor. He is one of the guitarists who is most in demand in the United States to accompany both dancing and singing.
Richard Ogilby is the founder of the Gitana Blanca flamenco school, which is based in Los Angeles (California). |
