"La Tana sings with the urgency of things that live ardently, with her stomach and her throat, with her entire body and the whole of her soul." José Manuel Gamboa

La Tana has had a classical kind of schooling. She cut her teeth by singing to accompany dancing, as part of the companies of Joaquín Cortes and Farruquito. It was in this role that she learnt the timeless cantes (styles) and travelled half-way across the world.
Paco de Lucía discovered her in a bar in Seville and included her voice among the "cositas buenas" (good little things) in his record. With him, she travelled to the remaining half of the world during his international tour in 2004. It was, again, the guitarist from Algeciras who offered her the opportunity to make her solo debut. Paco de Lucía and Javier Limón are the producers of her first record, "Tú, ven a mí", which also features the involvement of artists such as Diego el del Morao, Carles Benavent, Alain Pérez and Caramelo de Cuba. |
