The first part of the DVD tackles the second stage in the development of the 'cafés cantantes', which runs until 1930. ['Cafés cantantes' were establishments serving drinks that staged performances of singing, playing and dancing, and were instrumental in divulging flamenco during their golden age in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.] The featured dancers are: Los de Balmes (sevillanas boleras), Trini España (tientos), Merche Esmeralda (garrotín) and Matilde Coral (alegrías). Among their performances, comments made by great flamenco artists are interspersed, explaining what the cafés cantantes were like, and talking about some of the figures who passed through them.

The second chapter is devoted to Manuel Corrales 'El Mimbre'. The sober bailaor dances soleá, cantiña, alegrías and bulería.

The video ends with a performance by Matilde Coral dancing the caña, a taranto that is finished off by a tango de Triana, and bulerías, accompanied by El Negro.
