This seventh volume of the legendary series "Rito y Geografía del Cante" contains the following four chapters:
BERNARDA DE UTRERA
Seguiriyas, tientos and fandangos are the styles that Bernarda de Utrera picked for this programme, as well as bulerías, a trademark of the Pinini household of which she is a brilliant master, who always clearly displays the domestic flavour that 'cantes' sung in intimate and limited spaces possess.
SOLEARES I
a journey around Seville and its province, where the soleá acquires a special dimension and is expressed with a unique wealth of nuances. The performances begin with Antonio Mairena in Seville and Enrique el de la Paula in Alcalá de Guadaira, and continue in Utrera with Perrate and Fernanda, before finishing off with Juan Peña el Lebrijano in his village.
FROM SANLÚCAR TO LA LÍNEA
A journey around the Atlantic coast near Cádiz, where we find primitive flamenco forms, some of which are definitely lost in time, not just as a result of the nature of their style, like the cantiñas of the Mirris', the romanced alboreá of Antonio Núñez Heredia or the martinetes of Tío Molino, but also due to the attitude of their performers, which is anchored in past ages, and to the sounds, which are so remote and distant, like those of La Paca, with the flavour of timeless nuances that have been scraped out of the bottom of history.
THE TORRE FAMILY
The antire Torre family in the same space and party, where the singing of the legendary Manuel Torre and of his brother Pepe were present in the passion inherited by their sons, who preserved the nuances, the sounds and the tricks that were distinctive of their ancestors.
Specialists in the field consider the series "Rito y Geografía del Cante" the best series about flamenco ever, and it constitutes an audio-visual document of invaluable worth and significance. It is an exhaustive study concerning artists, styles, geographical and historical contexts that enjoyed the assistance and advisory work of the most prestigious flamencologists of the time.
The series has been re-edited, with a careful restoration and re-mastering work, involving both the sound and images. This new edition is published in the format of a DVD-book: the DVD features over two hours' worth of performances, interviews and reports; the book contains in-depth information about artists and flamenco styles.
The complete series is made up of twenty-four volumes, which can be purchased individually or in packs, each of which contains four volumes. Each volume contains four chapters of the original series and, thus, each case or pack contains 16 chapters of the original series.
