The first volume of the recordings made by Manuel Vallejo. He was one of the cantaores (flamenco singers) from his time who has the most extensive discography. He was also a great general cantaor who was very popular during the era of flamenco opera.
The imprint of the cantaor's artistic and creative personality is reflected in all of these songs. And, of course, in the fandangos, which was the predominant style of the era, particularly at a popular level. In August 1925 the management of the Teatro Pavón decided to create the Copa Pavón (Pavón Cup), for the artist who was most successful in the "variety show" genre. The jury, which included Don Antonio Chacón, decided to award the Cup to Manuel Vallejo after a hard-fought competition with the best representatives of the genre. Listening to his oeuvre, to his legacy, is the best explanation that can be provided for his success.
