After a long period without releasing any records, Pepe de Lucía returns on the scene with a new work that blends flamenco, tango and jazz. In "Tomo y Obligo" (I take and oblige), Paco de Lucía's brother pays tribute to Carlos Gardel, and to do so, he has arranged some of Gardel's best known tangos in a flamenco jazz key. The end product is an album that sounds simultaneously ancient and new, that sounds necessary and true, deep and unique.
