The Cádiz cantaora (flamenco singer) and bailaora (flamenco dancer) Ana Salazar pays tribute to Edith Piaf – known as the sparrow of French music – on the fortieth anniversary of her death by performing flamenco versions of some of Piaf's songs. Salazar counts on the participation of the guitarist Tito Alcedo, of the piano player Juan Cortés and of the violin player Ara Malikian. The percussionist Guillermo McGill is responsible for the percussion.
With this record, Ana Salazar was awarded the 2003 Gran Prix de la Chanson Française (Grand Prize of French Singing) by the French Society of Authors (SACEM). It was the first time that this institution granted this award to a work that is in a language other than French.
