El baile, el toque y el cante a compás por Rumbas, Tangos y Tanguillos (Dancing, guitar playing and singing to the meter in a Rumba, Tango and Tanguillo style.) |
|
An indispensable collection to learn, get to know and enjoy flamenco guitar playing, singing and dancing. A didactic description of the different palos (forms), the off-beat, palm clapping, measure, types of accompaniment, the speed of every dance... It is ideal for academies and for anyone who wants to study flamenco in their own house. It has 23 didactic volumes: 13 are normal and 10 are double; all of them are introduced by the bailaora (flamenco dancer) Cristina Hoyos.
This volume is devoted to rumbas, tangos and tanguillos. Tangos are "another of the basic styles of flamenco, and one of the earliest ones. They were born as an authentic Cádiz style, with lyrics that are playful, ironic and satyrical, but always festive. The distinctive modes that can be identified, depending on whether the tangos come from Cádiz, Seville, Jerez or Málaga, feature structural and interpretative differences, although the dance always involves movements that are elegant, graceful, with cheeky gestures, and allows personal improvising which sometimes gives rise to new forms, something that explains its very rich and incessant development. They represent the embodiment of an entire festive tradition".
Cristina Hoyos.
