The virtuoso guitar placer Cañizares plays ”Suite Iberia”, originally composed for piano by the master Albéniz. The Catalan guitarist had previously recorded this composers work, in fact in 1991, with Paco de Lucía he adapted three pieces from this composition that he now adapts in its entirety.
This ambitious project adapts the classic declaration of love to Andalusia for piano by Albéniz to the instrument that best represents the region, flamenco guitar. In the booklet that goes with the album the musicologist Faustino Núñez says: "Cañizares’s infallible and surprisingly precise rhythm, either in classical music or flamenco, brings unexpected tones where necessary to each piece, delving in the dense polyphony of “Iberia”…. The vast effort of transcribing all that music for guitar is also commendable".
