Bit by bit the piano is making itself a space in flamenco music, already having notable representatives. Among them is Chano Domínguez, leader of the jazz band that have been "kidnapped" by flamenco; David Peña Dorantes, that accompanies his piano with viola, violin and percussion and brings his genius from Lebrija, his birthplace; and Sergio Monroy, young pianist valued by the critics as the most outstanding figure among the new generation of young flamenco artists. His very personal style follows the paths of the new flamenco, a way of blending different styles with frequent references to jazz. .

Chano Domínguez
1993-2003
The journalist and musicologist Carlos Galilea writes in the booklet that comes with this double CD that nobody knows how Chano was able to blend jazz and flamenco. The fact is that he managed to do this “by picking at his piano like a miner”. This compilation album is a good example of this, which features his piano surrounded by jazz greats, and in which he enjoys the special participation of Tomatito, Enrique Morente, Tomasito and Marta Valdés..
David Peña Dorantes.
Orobroy
The first work by this genius of the piano who comes from one of the great flamenco families, the same one as El Lebrijano. The record is a daring challenge in which an innovative, evolving kind of flamenco is throbbing, and Dorantes´ piano combines with the viola, violin and percussion, but without a guitar. The CD´s title track gained notoriety after it was used as the signature tune on a television programme.
Sergio Monroy
Chicuco
With Chicuco, Sergio Monroy steps further ahead in his musical career, offering a very complete work, astonishing in the sound maturity of its brave, daring style, very flamenco. For the pianist, Chicuco is an homage to his parents and to the memory of a childhood passed among the corner shops of his neighborhood and it pays tribute to everybody who lives far from his hometown, Cadix.
