Documentary in black-and-white
Language: Spanish. Subtitles in English and French.
Approximate length: 80 minutes (documentary: 58', interview: 18').
In 1999, Dominique Abel directed a documentary based on the figure of Manuel Agujetas, a legendary cantaor (flamenco singer) and one of the last remaining representatives of the Jerez school. Since then, apart from a very limited edition, it has not been available for Agujetas’ legion of admirers.
An edition on DVD is now being released, featuring the film (58 minutes), an interview with the director Dominique Abel (18 minutes), the artist’s recording history and a bibliography on Agujetas and a glossary of flamenco terms.
Moreover, this edition is released alongside the CD "Agujetas, cantaor", which includes the soundtrack of the documentary, in which all the themes are sung by Agujetas, with guitar accompaniment by Moraíto.
