This book analyses this language through an in-depth musical examination of the elements that comprise flamenco: the form, rhythm, melody and harmony. It is a technical-musical treatise that uses the classical tools of analysis, coding and notation that are usually employed for the study of other musical genres. It is useful for flamenco musicians to gain a better understanding of the music that they play; for composers and performers of other types of music, to approach flamenco music; and for pupils in music teaching academies, as a text-book.

The book is made up of four chapters: FORM, RHYTHM, MELODY and HARMONY, which are complemented by the final one, a kind of epilogue that includes reflections on contemporary trends in flamenco.
