As the alegrías are a kind of cantiñas and, therefore, the two sound very similar, this work makes available the key elements to tell them apart. The first CD contains the structure of both forms (palos) and shows the main difference: the silencio (the section featuring melodic guitar playing in a minor key), or paso castellano, of the alegrías. It finishes in a bulerías style which, although it is not the most appropriate thing to do, as it should end with the ida (the final part of the dance, which corresponds with the chorus or end of the singing), is certainly something that has been occurring frequently at present. The second CD only features meter and escobillas (a section of the dance that includes the zapateado, a rhythmic combination of sounds made by stepping with the toe, sole and heel of the foot), at different speeds. Performers: Juana Amaya and José Galván (dancing), Juan José Amador, Enrique “El Extremeño” and José Anillo (singing), Paco Fernández and Miguel Aragón (guitar), Manuel Soler (cajón, box-drum), and Pastora Galván and Soraya Clavijo (hand clapping).
