The composer of “El Gallo Azul” once again sails through an ocean of jazz in a flamenco key. The two genres converse with each other. The “jondo” (lit. "deep", also an expression to refer to flamenco art) of Gerardo Nuñez with Perico Sambeat’s sax, or with Paolo Fresu’s trumpet. The guitar is also accompanied by Meriano Díaz’s piano, by bass guitars and plentiful percussion, without overlooking the palmas (rhythmic hand-clapping) of the bailaora (female flamenco dancer) Carmen Cortés, who is also the guitarist’s wife. It is a record that can stand on its own, and has a personal, inimitable and refined style.
