Length: 90 minutes.
Multi-zone DVD compatible with all countries (NTSC and PAL)
The two first programmes are dedicated to Flamenco Cádiz. All the way through these first two parts, viewers will enjoy all the liveliness of Cádiz through the voices of none other than Rancapino (alegrías and tangos), Chaquetón (malagueña del Mellizo and alegrías de Rosario la del Colorao), Chano Lobato (soleá and bulerías). And with Juan and Luis Habichuela's guitars.
The second recording is entirely devoted to the great Pericón, who had by then (in 1975) already half-retired with 78 years of age, and had recently had a tribute paid to him in his hometown of Cádiz. The book 'Las mil y una historia de Pericón de Cádiz' (The one thousand and one stories of Pericón de Cádiz) had just been published. Accompanied by Félix de Utrera on guitar and by two exceptional rhytmic hand-clappers, the bailaores (flamenco dancers) Pepín Cabrales and Caramelitos de Cádiz, Pericón sings alegrías, tanguillos, malagueñas, tangos and bulerías. And, of course, he also recounts some of his tasty anecdotes that included the exaggerations for which he was famous.
The DVD finishes off with a programme from the 1964 series entitled 'Regreso de América' ('Return from America'), that is, a series that examines what are known as cantes de ida y vuelta. A barefoot La Chunguita dances a sensual rumba. We hear colombianas and colombianas with rumba effects; a vidalita by Bernardo el de los Lobitos is also featured. Afterwards, a milonga is announced, although it looks more like a vidalita. Finally, Lucero Tena dances a guajira with Serranito on guitar and Gabriel Moreno singing.
