This second volume of the legendary "Rito y geografía del cante" series contains the following four chapters:
La Paquera de Jerez
La Paquera de Jerez, with all her vitality and freshness, displays her artistry, which is rounded, original and different, alongside a group of friends and artists from Jerez, in various venues in Madrid. It also features a moving sequence in which Paquera returns to her hometown and meets relatives and neighbours who celebrate her arrival with an impromptu party in the middle of the street.
Huelva Fandangos
A close look at the Huelva fandangos in a journey across the variety of their musical structures which includes: fandangos of Valverde, Alosno, Pérez de Guzmán, el Cerro and Santa Bárbara de Casa, with the guidance of Pepe Rivera, one of the pioneers of the research of these fandangos, and of the great cantaor Paco Toronjo.
Cantaor Children
The earliest steps taken by artists such as Moraíto, La Macanita, Remedios Amaya, Carmelilla Montoya, Antonio de la Malena and Carlos Heredia, who fascinated their relatives, friends and neighbours with their gracefulness and self-assurance from a very young age. They are unique performances that provide some of the keys for understanding the transmisssion of the heritage of flamenco culture.
Pepe Martínez
Pepe Martínez was a guitarist who possessed a brilliant technique and polished execution. His work to divulge flamenco beyond our frontiers opened up doors which many other guitarists from new generations also passed through later. The artist hosts us in his house in Seville, talks to us about his aesthetic models and gives a real concert performance of carefully selected pieces from his oeuvre.
Specialists in the field consider the series "Rito y Geografía del Cante" the best series about flamenco ever, and it constitutes an audio-visual document of invaluable worth and significance. It is an exhaustive study concerning artists, styles, geographical and historical contexts that enjoyed the assistance and advising of the most prestigious flamencologists of the time.
The series has been re-released, with a careful restoration and re-mastering work, involving both the sound and images. This new edition has been released in the format of a DVD-book: the DVD features over two hours of performances, interviews and reports; the book contains in-depth information about artists and flamenco styles.
The complete series is made up of twenty-four volumes, which can be purchased individually or in packs, each of which contains four volumes. Each volume contains four chapters of the original series and, thus, each case or pack contains 16 chapters of the original series.
