In this DVD, Nan Mercader provides a full course about percussion using the darbuka, a drum with Arabic origins. The DVD explains the history of this instrument, how to tune it, the correct position in which to play it, its different sounds, the hand technique, exercises to practice and learn to play it, and its different rhythms. It also includes the musical scores for the exercises and rhythms, as well as tips related to buying the instrument.
The teaching method is finished off by recordings in which it is possible to listen to a live band, and a track that allows learners to play the instrument, accompanied by the rest of the band.

i'm dissapointed
i don't know what is the point in making such dvds, apart from making money. i'm not going to say that nan mercader is a bad musician, because i don't know him. but what he shows in this dvd is definitely not a good darbuka technique. it's something he thinks it is. if you are some kind of hobbyist, you have never seen a darbuka before and you have some money to spend, you can buy it, but if you want to learn a good technique, you won't find it on this dvd.
