In "All about my mother", Manuela loses her 18-year-old son Esteban in an accident. The child's great obsession was to find out who his father was, something that she had always concealed from him. When Esteban dies, Manuela feels the need to find his father.

With this purpose, she travels to Barcelona, where she will meet her old lover, who has now become a woman known as Lola, again. Looking for a man with this name cannot be simple… and it isn't.
