"The zorongos are a dance that was very popular in the 18th century and was performed to the sound of tambourines, guitars and vihuelas (an ancient traditional Spanish string instrument), with a great number of desplantes (series of hard stepping movements that end, or climax, a series of steps, or section, of the dance), convulsive and revolving movements, mainly executed by components of the Granadan zambras (bustling, noisy gypsy parties similar to the earlier Moorish ones which bore this name) of the Sacromonte. García Lorca contributed to making it popular with his compilation of popular songs. It is used to accompany dancing, which is executed following the meter of a slow tango".
