This fifth volume of the legendary series "The Rituals and Geography of Flamenco Singing" contains the following four chapters:

JOSÉ MENESE
The artistry and strikingly effective expressiveness of José Menese is featured in this programme that was shot in the early 1970s in La Puebla de Cazalla (Seville), the cantaor’s birthplace. Menese performs a varied range of styles (soleares, seguiriyas, tangos, martinetes…), surrounded by his friends and relatives, among whom was the painter Francisco Moreno Galván, the artist’s mentor and author of the lyrics that he sang, who was also from the same town.

GYPSY PARTY IN A TANGO STYLE
Tangos, with all their expressive variety, performed by significant artists: from Extremadura and Triana in the singing of Carmen Montoya and the dancing of her husband El Morito; tangos with Cádiz influence by Tío Vicente Peña; ones from Málaga by Ángel de Álora and Ángel Luis Cañete, and the personal interpretation by Camarón, with Paco Cepero on guitar, and Paco de Lucía and Turronero providing first-rate accompaniment.

FROM RONDA TO MÁLAGA
A journey from the mountains to the coast to gain some in-depth knowledge of a series of flamenco styles with a popular and peasant character. Landscapes from Córdoba and Málaga and music from both these provinces, all of which are tied to their folkloric origins: verdiales shot in the Mountains of Málaga, zánganos from Puente Genil, fandangos from Lucena, as well as rondeñas, cantes de jabegotes and jaberas from the province of Málaga.

THE FAMILY OF THE PININIS
A living document concerning the Pinini family and their musical and stylistic codes, which have persisted as models in the history of flamenco art: the cantiñas and alegrías of Pinini, the soleares of Fernanda de Utrera, the bulerías of Bernarda, the bulería por soleá of María Peña, Pedro Bacán’s guitar playing, or the singing and dancing of Miguel Funi.

Specialists in the field consider the series "Rito y Geografía del Cante" the best series about flamenco ever, and it constitutes an audio-visual document of invaluable worth and significance. It is an exhaustive study concerning artists, styles, geographical and historical contexts that enjoyed the assistance and advisory work of the most prestigious flamencologists of the time.

The series has been re-released, with a careful restoration and re-mastering work, involving both the sound and images. This new edition is published in the format of a DVD-book: the DVD features over two hours of performances, interviews and reports; the book contains in-depth information about artists and flamenco styles.

The complete series is made up of twenty-four volumes, which can be purchased individually or in packs, each of which contains four volumes. Each volume contains four chapters of the original series and, thus, each case or pack contains 16 chapters of the original series.
