Camarón de la Isla's first record, when he was eighteen, resulted from his encounter with guitarist Paco de Lucía, who was 21 at the time. Their mutual understanding was perfect, and thus one of the most emblematic artistic pairings in twentieth century flamenco art was born. It was the first of a long series of recordings that they made together, which had a considerable influence on flamenco singing and guitar playing, and also on the appearance of a new generation of artists during the 1980s.
