The most symbolic places in Segovia, like the Aqueduct, the Plaza Mayor, the Alcazar and a few churches, will be the venues for the International Festival that will be held in Segovia from 3 to 24 July. Numerous artists representing different musical styles will come together in this festival, in which Chano Dominguez, Tomatito and Antonio Canales will be responsible for providing a flamenco note.
As part of the festival's programme, the 25th Ciclo de Musica de Camara (Chamber Music Cycle) will unfold, starting on 5 July with the Chano Domínguez Trio, which merges flamenco rhythms with jazz musical forms.
Tomatito, who participated in the Galapajazz festival in Madrid last Friday, will stage a performance with the Symphonic Orchestra of Cordoba on 13 July. He will unveil an oeuvre entitled 'Balada por Atocha' (Ballad for Atocha) as a tribute to the victims of the 11 March attacks in Madrid, and the guitarist claims that he will not play it again 'anywhere'.
On 15 July, it will be the turn of the bailaor (flamenco dancer) Antonio Canales, who, alongside Lola Greco and Diego Llori, will present 'Carmen Carmela', a new version of Carmen. According to the show’s director, Miguel Narros, the figure of Carmen "stops being mythical, to become closer to the women of today who, in certain ways, have a hard time".
