Tickets for Paco de Lucia’s concert on 10 July have already sold out.

On 5 July, Tomatito was the artist in charge of opening the first week of the Cordoba Guitar Festival, where the greatest classical and modern guitarists on the international scene will gather. Among the most important and awaited performances, are those by Raimundo Amador, Paco de Lucia and Bob Dylan himself, who will close this first stage of the Festival.

The 24th edition of the Cordoba Guitar Festival, which will be held in Cordoba city centre from 5 to 17 July, was opened by a performance by Tomatito on 5 July in the Gran Teatro, and on the 7th, the world premiere of Javier Latorre's show 'Triana. En nombre de la rosa' will take place. There is also a lot of expectation for the performance of the Cordoban Manuel Ruiz 'Queco', who will present a selection of themes from his latest work on Thursday 8 July.

Nonetheless, the three most eagerly awaited performances will take place next weekend, from 9 to 11 July. On Friday night, there will be a performance by Raimundo Amador, which will be followed on Saturday by Paco de Lucia, with his 'Cositas buenas', and Bob Dylan, whose concert will be on Sunday night in the Polideportivo Municipal El Fontanal sports complex.

Although the guitar is the event’s main focus, there will also be other kinds of shows, such as the latest dance show by Antonio Canales, 'Carmen, Carmela', on Tuesday 13 July, or the concert by Joan Manuel Serrat alongside the Cordoba Orchestra on 17 July.

Furthermore, the festival's complementary activities, which have been dedicated to Paco de Lucia this year, will include an exhibition on his life and oeuvre, several conferences about his artistry, and the presentation of the books 'La fabulosa guitarra de Paco de Lucía' (Paco de Lucia's fabulous guitar) and 'Integral de Paco de Lucía'.

Parallel to these performances, in different venues, there will be several cultural activities such as classical guitar, composition, jazz guitar and flamenco dancing courses, among others. The teachers on these courses will, most notably, include Manolo Sanlúcar, Stanley Jordan and Ralph Towner. Another of the new elements in this edition of the festival, will be the staging of an International Guitar Contest whose participants will mainly be students attending the courses at the Festival. It will take place on 15, 16 and 17 July.
