His vast experience as a performer and a teacher give him a unique vision of the flamenco piano.
Carlos Torijano has undergone extensive training in classical and jazz music. His self-taught restlessness led him all the way to flamenco, where he became acquainted with the guitarist Joaquín Herrera, who guided him in the discovery of the secrets of flamenco, and with whom he has worked on several occasions. Carlos Torijano is also the leader of his own quartet, Ritual de Fuego, with which he carries out a very peculiar fusion of styles, combining classics of Spanish music with flamenco and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
At present, and already over the last few years, his activity has revolved around piano teaching. He is trying to create a systematic methodology to allow the development of a greater interest in the learning of this instrument. He is a flamenco piano and salsa teacher in the Escuela Joaquín Herrera, and the author of a three-volume flamenco piano teaching method entitled "Iniciación al Piano Flamenco" (Initiation to the Flamenco Piano). Furthermore, he is also a member of ISME (International Society for Music Education).
